Maria Heffernan

Maria qualified as a General Nurse from St. Vincent's University Hospital, Dublin, with a particular interest in Neurosurgery, worked in St. Paul's Services for Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder, as an Assistant Matron with The Brabazon Trust, and as an Army Nursing Sister with the Irish Defence Forces.
Trained in the Montessori Method, Maria opened the first Creche in North County Dublin in 1983.
Maria has an Honours Degree in Psychology from the National University of Ireland Maynooth, (NUIM), and worked as a Research Psychologist in The Department of Neuroscience, Trinity College Dublin, (TCD).
The results of a study she conducted on Attitudes towards Age and Aging was published in the Irish Journal of Medical Science and presented at the 60th Annual and Scientific Meeting of the Irish Gerontological Society in University College Cork (UCC).
With a Diploma in Counselling Children and Adolescents and a Diploma in Forensic Science and Profiling, Maria also completed a further 2-year Post Graduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy with the Belfast Cognitive Therapy Centre (BCTC) and also completed ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training).
Maria is a fully accredited member of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (Ireland) (CBTI) which is the Accreditation body for Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy in Ireland.

She is an individual Member of The International Association of Cognitive Psychotherapy and an Associate member of Early Childhood Ireland, her work is directed towards helping clients who are experiencing difficulties in the following areas:

Since the completion of my Clinical Masters Degree with UCD Mater school of Medicine in 2008. I have been working as a Clinical Psychotherapist in a number of specialist mental health clinics treating Depression, Anxiety, relationship issues, Eating Disorders & general mental health disorders. I also possess a Degree in psychology and have extensive training in CBT and CBT-E with a particular interest in Eating Disorders. My qualifications, experience and training enable me to treat individuals, couples and families across a wide range of Mental Health disorders.

Aisling is a qualified psychotherapist and is accredited with IACP. Aisling holds an honours degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Middlesex University, Certificate in Psychology from Trinity college and is also has advanced training in Solution Focused Brief Therapy. She has over 10 years client work experience.
Aisling is passionate about helping people and also encouraging the benefits and advantages that counselling and psychotherapy can offer to people of all ages and backgrounds. She is non judgmental and is committed to accepting all her clients as they are, viewing each of her clients with positive regard. Her aim is to help clients more towards a more fulfilled and happier self.
Aisling wants her clients to reach greater emotional awareness and positive Sense of self.

During her therapeutic work she aims to meet all her client where they are at in that moment and focuses on the emotional dimension of the clients individual experiences.
Aisling is an integrated humanistic therapist also drawing from Cognitive behavioural therapy and solution focused brief therapy. She works with clients 18 or over both long and short term.

She is passionate and determined to offer her very best to each and every client and is very committed to her belief that counselling and psychotherapy can benefit us all in a positive, meaningful and life changing way.

Josephine Benson

Josephine is a qualified counsellor/psychotherapist. She holds a master’s degree in Mental health from Trinity College Dublin, H dip (hons) degree in psychotherapeutic studies University College Dublin, and a Dip in Humanistic counselling.

Josephine is a motivated individual, who has a passion for improving the lives of people by helping them deal with any difficulties they may face. As a professional she committed to delivering the highest standards of care and achieving the best results. She is a member of the Irish Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapist (IACP) and has worked for a range organisation where she has gained in-depth clinical experience providing counselling to couples and individuals. She utilises a collaborative process, encouraging clients to take an active role as they set goals and create the change they want to see in their lives.
Josephine employs an integrative therapeutic approach – Humanistic (PCT), Cognitive (CBT) Solutions Focused Therapy (SFT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI) depending on client need.

She has completed training in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills (ASIST), Crisis Intervention Management Support (CISM), Anger management, and Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP). She works with a wide variety of issues such as - Anxiety, depression, suicidality, trauma, grief, sexuality, relationship issues, low self-esteem, eating disorders, addiction, life transitions and stress management. She also has a wealth of experience of working with people with co-morbidity, dual diagnosis and complex trauma.
In addition to her private practise Josephine works as a case manager and psychotherapist for a large private health care company. She is also delivers a program in national primary schools to promote positive mental health, emotional literacy, social and emotional competency.
